Serving on the Wichita Professional Communicators board is a great way to have an impact on the organization and its mission of supporting communicators and providing scholarships for future communicators.

During the past two years that I have served as president, I’ve been so pleased to see some of our “newer” members stepping up to serve on the board. They have brought valuable, contemporary insights and some, who are serving on a board of any kind for the first time, are showing great leadership potential.

And now we want more — from any member willing to serve.

A five-member nominating committee — comprising chair Adrienne Churchill, members Naomi Shapiro, Angie Prather, Jim Meyer and me — is seeking nominations for WPC’s elected board positions and helping identify others willing to participate on the board. WPC has only four elected board positions, with the other board positions, except past president, being appointed ones by the president. Becky Funke has agreed to continue as the 2020 treasurer, but the other elected positions of president, president-elect and secretary remain open. The slate of nominees will be voted on at the WPC general member meeting Nov. 6.

Please consider sharing your time and talent or giving us names of people you’d like to see leading this organization in 2020. To find out more about the positions or nominate someone, please contact Adrienne Churchill, nachurch11@gmail.com or me, algj64@sbcglobal.net, by mid-September.
