Support your local everything

I think I’m riding a high (and possible heat exhaustion) from Open Streets ICT this year, but I’m feeling really fortunate to live in a city that elevates entrepreneurs and celebrates all things local (not just the flag). We have some of the best local restaurants with menus carefully curated by culinary masterminds, thoughtful boutiques filled with gifts and tchotchkes, and amazing local talent providing their creativity to businesses near and far. I’m thrilled we’re Read more…

Fall is almost here

Fall is right around the corner, and that always indicates a busy time for most organizations. In Library world, we moved our annual Big Read from fall to winter/spring because it clashed with so many other great community events. But that doesn’t mean we are sitting back and twiddling our thumbs – we have plenty to work on. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of fall (for many reasons). It’s my favorite season. I enjoy the Read more…

Life moves fast, take care of yourself

I don’t know about you, but life has been moving really fast these last few weeks … err … months. There’s a lot of change in the air in my world, and with that comes a lot of time spent mulling over things in my brain. Which can be a good and a bad thing. We’ve heard a lot about taking care of our mental health these last couple of pandemic years, and for me, Read more…

Communication is evolving

Those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are here. Yes, I did just watch that episode of “Gilmore Girls” where that phrase was repeated in song throughout the entire episode. I’m also so happy summer is here. Whether we want them to or not, things are opening up. People are starting to travel (albeit maybe a little begrudgingly thanks to high gas prices and airfare), but nonetheless, people are out exploring. As I mentally prepare Read more…

Change is good

Changes are brewing at Wichita Professional Communicators. And that’s a good thing. This past year, we’ve challenged the status quo with monthly programs that made us think differently about what the communication sector looks like today. Gone are the days of the standard newsroom, the traditional inverted pyramid story template and ad campaigns using the same exhausted platforms of raising a message. People consume information and content in different formats. Let’s celebrate that! We’ve brought Read more…
