WPC’s Mixer Fundraiser, held Sept. 7 at the KMUW studios, raised more than $1,300 for future communications scholarships. While fundraising for the group’s scholarship fund continues year-round, this annual event is its major source of revenue.
This year, the fundraiser moved to a new location – the large living room-like lobby of KMUW, Wichita’s National Public Radio affiliate.
“We’re a casual and sociable group, so this was the perfect place for us,” said WPC Scholarship Co-Chair Judy Conkling. “And we’re so grateful to station General Manager Debra Fraser for loaning it to us for the evening.”
Conkling offers her thanks as well to the many people who helped make it happen: Emcee and WPC President Naomi Shapiro; At-large board member Beth Bower, who secured the caterer and with her husband, Guy Bower, donated the wine and nonalcoholic beverages; and event volunteers WPC member Dawn Monroe, Treasurer Brittany Sweeney, Reservations Chair Teri Mott, Scholarship Co-Chair Wilma Moore-Black, President-elect Kristin Bogner, Secretary Ben Redington, Membership VP Haley Crowson, Historian Shannon Littlejohn, Webmaster Kindra Goertzen, Past President Sean Jones, and at-large members Conni Mansaw and Jill Miller.
Special thanks to venue sponsor KMUW and General Manager Debra Fraser. Thanks, as well, to the many silent auction donors:
