If you didn’t go to Wilson….
If you weren’t one of the 23 members of Kansas Professional Communicators who made it to the annual meeting at Wilson on May 3 you missed…

  • Electing new officers who agreed to the challenge of leading OUR organization for the next two years.
  • Marveling at how digital technology makes an advertising specialties company in Wilson a player in the international market. You’ve seen some of their work on a wide range of products and had no idea it came from Wilson, Kansas!
  • Networking with communicators from a diverse cross section of our industry.
  • Tips in how to effectively cover religion….and not just on a page devoted to the topic once a week…or once a month….or whatever your schedule.
  • An invigorating pep talk on networking. What does your handshake say about you?
  • Great food, great service and great atmosphere in a charmingly restored turn-of-the-century hotel that’s on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • More networking!
  • Learning how absolutely free web applications can make your life easier. Don’t really need all the bells and whistles and can’t afford the big price tag Adobe pastes on the full version of Photoshop? Did you know the basic photo editing tools (from Adobe) are available absolutely free? Find someone who attended and learn more!
  • More good food!
  • More networking! And some good wine.
  • The announcement of the Communicator of Achievement and the Sweepstakes Winner in the contest. And you missed out on the applause if you won an award!
Now, allow me to preach a little.... If you didn’t think the weekend was worth the investment of your time and money, I hope this makes you realize you might actually be wrong! Plan now to give YOURSELF the gift of participating in the one meeting of OUR ORGANIZATION one weekend next spring.
